Creationists and the Denial of Science

When a knowledgeable creationist catches an atheist or other evolutionist in a logical fallacy like the genetic fallacy, an abusive ad hominem, straw man, or other errors, the culprits frequently use the epithet science denier.

Such an accusation reveals that someone is not interested in a rational discussion and is probably wasting your time. Even so, it is worthwhile to examine the science denier accusation. You may want to show that the claim is absurd, and you can be aware of why it stinks on ice.

Something misotheists intensely dislike is when they throw down on a biblical creationist, they are challenged to back up their claims. In my case, I have this and other weblogs where I have shown appreciation for science — and my triple-bypass open-heart surgery to appreciate medical science. No science denier here, Horace.

For that matter, ask what "science denier" even means.

The accusation often comes when Darwin's acolytes conflate evolution with science, using the horrendous logic that if we deny evolution, we deny science. Well, okay. The science I deny is bad science. Dust-to-doctor evolution has a great deal of fraud, bad science, poor logic, suppressing contrary evidence, and more to bolster it. There are other things masquerading as science that are actually lousy, and it may even be a public service to speak out against such things. But make sure of your facts first.

Also, how can be deny science when most of it was started by creationists? (Really, science, logic, and all that good stuff was started by God the Creator who then let humans created in his image develop the sciences.) Christians and creationists developed science, and are involved in various scientific fields today.

Before discussing science, we should wonder why it even works. Science requires an orderly universe, but why should it be orderly in the first place? Evolution can’t explain it.

However, the Bible teaches a Divine Lawmaker—the God of Order, not confusion (1 Corinthians 14:33)—made the universe. God gave mankind dominion (Genesis 1:28), implying we are meant to study the creation and find out how it works. (See also creation.com/whyscience.)

University, a medieval church invention, first laid the foundations of science. Its pioneers were often clergymen, what we might call natural philosophers (natural philosophy was the old term for ‘science’). A few centuries later, the Reformation led to the rediscovery of a more objective understanding of Scripture, which was transferred to nature.
