Asia Data for the Genesis Flood
Despite the common misconception of scientists going to and fro on the earth, collecting data and then forming theories, they have existing ideas and try to see if data support them. From there, they build theories and all that good stuff. Like their secular counterparts, biblical creation scientists try to do the same.
Unfortunately, the secular science industry has a passel of grotzits to spend on their pursuits, but creationists are severely limited, having to rely on donations instead. Even so, the Institute for Creation Research has been gathering data to support Genesis Flood models.

Another similarity between creation and secular scientists is disagreement. Scientists put forward an idea and sometimes passionately defend it, others reject it and present their own. As it happens with secular scientists, it occurs with creationists. They do agree that the Bible is true, the earth is young, and there was a global Flood. One disagreement is the area of the Flood boundary. That is, there were periods of inundation that would leave marks (which would be tricky to determine because of plate tectonics and uplift), and then there was further geological activity from the runoff of all that water. ICR has been doing extensive research, and are excited to tell us about the developments in Asia that support where they believe the boundary exists.
The Institute for Creation Research’s Column Project team recently finished a two-year study of Asia. We have now accumulated column data across five of the world’s continents, with Australia in progress and Antarctica in the future. Our results reinforce earlier findings of a progressive global flood (Figure 1).
We compiled a total of 784 stratigraphic columns across the Asian continent and surrounding offshore regions. The columns were derived directly from oil industry wells, published cross-sections, surface outcrops, and seismic data. Maps of the surface extent and thicknesses by megasequence are shown in Figure 2. A graph of the percent surface area to total area for each megasequence is shown in Figure 3.
The maps and the graph show that Asia follows the same general patterns of North and South America, Africa, and Europe. Similar patterns on every continent are strong evidence of the progressive nature of the global Flood.
